Body. Cocoon. Shell. A shell layered with the traces of life that it lived. It wrinkles, twists, and protrudes foreign objects that have shaped it. It keeps them and works with them to blend into its environment. It preserves its outward appearance while inside it forms, reshapes, and reconstructs. Transformation occurs with the help of an external exoskeleton, which provides protection and space for change. It is alive on the inside.
The interactive installation consists of artificially created insect exoskeletons captured in the moment of molting. Beneath the shedding shell, a "new body" emerges, which lights up when a switch is pressed. Looking through a peephole and rotating it changes the colors of the "body," bringing it to life.
These artificial exoskeletons were made with bioplastics, what caused procesual degradation of the material, being left in the cellar for two months.
This installation was part of the festival Sirotinec (28/6/2023 – 28/8/2023).
